Purdue092609-9549 | Loeb Fountain was constructed in 1959 on Purdue Mall in front of the Executive Building, later renamed Hoved Hall. It was a gift of the Bert and June Loeb Foundation to honor Solomon Loeb, a pioneer Lafayette merchant. Dismantled in 1988 to accommodate Purdue Mall renovation, the granite pieces of the fountain remanined in storage until 1993, when the fountain was redesigned and installed as the centerpiece of Founders Park. The main cup of the fountin is a solid piece of rainbow granite. The slabs of granite which form the outer edge of the fountain surface were the capstone on the seat wall at the fountain's Purdeu mall location. The plaque dontaed by Purdue Univerisity Reamer Club, Fall 2005 Pledge Class |
