We visited Mike and Liane to spend the weekend in Charleston. They are getting married there in July and we wanted to see the wedding venue and the place we picked for the rehearsal dinner.
First night, we spent in Columbia. We went to dinner at a new place: Solstice Kitchen and Wine Bar. It was really good and very popular.
The next morning we drove together to Charleston, stopping first at the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. Mike and Liane’s wedding ceremony will be on the Long White Bridge Lawn, near the Plantation House. The reception will in the Carriage House. The plantation was in full bloom with all of its flowering tree’s at their prime. It was a beautiful site. The place was full of visitors like us. We stopped for a light lunch and headed to Charleston.
We checked into our hotel, the Belmond Charleston Place. This is a luxury hotel right in the center of the historic downtown area of Charleston. We stopped for a quick drink then went for a nice walk through the city. We had dinner at 82 Queen — this is the same place we are going to have our rehearsal dinner. It’s really nice.
The next morning we had brunch, drove back to Columbia, briefly went shopping and then headed back home. It was really nice visiting them and we look forward to coming back in July!
