Antwerp021610-1518 | Plantin's B36. The 36-line bible in the Plantin-Moretus museum cam to Antwerp in 1514 as a gift from the Augustinian monastery in Nuremberg to its new Antwerp order. Accused of Lutheran sympathies the monastery was abolished in 1522 and in 1523 it property was publicly sold. At the end of the sixties the B36 was acquired by Plantin from an unknown owner with an eye to the preparatory work for the publishing of the "Bioblia Regia" (1568-1572/73). |
