Antwerp021610-1519 | The 36-line bible (B36). For a long time the general consensus of opinion has been that the B36 was chronologically earlier since it was printed with Gutenberg's oldest letter type. From later studies of text and paper it became clear that in fact the B42 was older. It is more than likely that the B36 was printed before 1461 by Albrecht Pfister in Bamberg using letter material belonging to Johannes Gutenberg. It is not knows how many copies were printered of the three-part 36 line bible. Only 14 copies still remain. |
