Fox River Bike Trail
Today we biked the Fox River Bike Trail. We started at the Fabyan Windmill park on the East side of the river. We biked South, crossed the river at the State Street bridge, then biked North along the West side of the river, back to our starting point.
One item of note: the river is really low this year. It is almost sad to see all the exposed gravel bars and dry patches of river bed. The low water, though, has atracted a good number of Great Egrets and Great Blue Heron’s — more than in previous seaons. We assume the shallow water makes feeding easier.
This was a holiday weekend. The weather was perfect and the trail was busy with lots of bike riders, joggers and other walkers. Be careful around the crowds.
